Choose an image format and resolution for the destination

PDF pages can contain text, photographs and vector graphics. Exporting turns each page into pixels, so the required resolution depends on where the image will be used. A screen preview needs fewer pixels than print or detailed OCR. Start with a moderate setting and increase it only when small text is not clear.

• Website or messaging preview: prioritize compact dimensions and quick loading.

JPG, PNG and page selection

JPG is efficient for photographs and mixed pages but uses lossy compression. PNG often keeps screenshots, diagrams and sharp text cleaner, although files can be larger. Export only the pages needed when the document is long. Page numbering in the filenames should be preserved so the images remain in sequence after download or extraction from a ZIP.

What conversion cannot preserve

An exported image has no selectable text, links, form fields, bookmarks or vector scaling. It is a visual copy of the page, not an editable equivalent. Check fine lines, transparent areas, colors and page rotation in the output. For copying text, use PDF to Text or OCR instead. For sharing the full document with its structure intact, keep the PDF.
