Use Merge PDF in a reliable PDF workflow

The merger copies the pages from every selected document into one new PDF, following the order shown in the file list. It does not turn the pages into screenshots, so text and vector graphics normally remain as they were in the source files.

When this tool is useful

Use it to combine invoices for one accounting period, attach several forms as a single submission, assemble chapters, or put a cover letter in front of supporting documents. Reorder the files before processing because the final document follows that sequence.

What to check before downloading

Open the result and check the first and last page of every source document. Bookmarks, interactive forms, digital signatures and advanced portfolio features may not survive a merge unchanged, so keep the originals whenever those elements matter.

Private browser processing and practical limits

Performance depends on the device, available memory, document complexity and browser. Large or unusual PDFs may take longer or may exceed the memory available on a phone. Plan the order before you merge

Name the source files clearly and put them in the intended sequence before selecting them. A useful order is cover page, main document, then supporting material. If page orientation or margins differ, correct those details first: merging joins documents but does not standardize their layout.

• Applications: place the form first and evidence immediately after it.
• Invoices: sort by date, supplier or reference number before combining.
• Reports: confirm that title pages, appendices and blank separator pages are intentional.

Merging versus organizing pages

Use Merge PDF when the starting material is spread across several files. Use Organize PDF when the pages are already in one file but need reordering or deletion. For a mixed job, merge first, inspect the complete document, then organize the pages. This sequence avoids repeatedly editing every source file.

Quality, forms and signed documents

A normal merge should preserve the visible page quality because pages are copied rather than photographed. However, interactive forms, bookmarks, embedded attachments, layers and existing digital signatures are advanced PDF features. Combining signed files generally changes the document structure and can invalidate signatures. Preserve the signed originals and treat the merged copy as a convenient reading or submission version.
