Prepare images for a clear, compact PDF

Rotate each photo before conversion, crop unnecessary background and place the images in reading order. A sharp source produces a more readable document; converting a blurred or heavily compressed photo to PDF cannot restore missing detail. For receipts and paperwork, photograph the page straight, in even light and without shadows.

• Use A4 or Letter when the PDF is intended for office printing.
• Preserve the original image ratio to avoid stretching faces, text or diagrams.
• Use margins when printers might cut content close to the page edge.

Page size, fit and image quality

Page size defines the PDF sheet, while image fit determines how the photo is placed on it. Filling the sheet can crop edges when image and page ratios differ; fitting the whole image may leave white borders. Preview the choice carefully. Very high-resolution photos increase memory use and output size without always improving normal viewing, so resize oversized camera images when a smaller file matters.

Documents, accessibility and final checks

An image-based PDF normally contains pictures of text rather than selectable text. If search, copying or assistive technology is required, run OCR after conversion and verify the recognized words. Open the result, inspect small text at 100% zoom, confirm every page orientation and make sure no image is missing. Keep original photos if they may be needed at full resolution.
